This Mother's Day was not a easy one, it started with Ruby falling off a chair and hitting her head on the tile floor. Brian was in the process of making me breakfast as I slept in. He ran to her to make sure she was okay and she lost consciousness and went limp in his arms. I could hear the panic in his voice all the way upstairs and I rushed down and called 911. She wasn't really responding to his voice and then she went unconscious again and stopped breathing for a few seconds. As i spoke with the 911 operator, I was so scared and just couldn't believe this was happening. I was sweating like crazy and totally nauseous. Brian kept talking to her and trying to keep her awake. She was so pale and it was TERRIFYING!!! When the police and ambulance got to the house they put her on the floor and began to get her vital signs. At that point she started screaming and crying and I was just happy she was breathing. I tried to comfort my other kids and help them understand that they were helping her not hurting her. A dear friend that leaves close by saw the ambulance and came and got all the other kids, and that was a blessing for them. Evelyn really was having a hard time with it all. I am sure it was traumatic. The EMT said he wanted to take her to the ER to get a cat scan just to make sure everything was okay. I thought it was so weird that they made her ride in her car seat in the ambulance. I rode with her and Brian drove our car and followed. As he left the neighborhood our Relief Society Pres. stopped his car and he told her briefly what had happened. As we rode to the ER I sang to Ruby to try and comfort her and it definitely seemed to help. She was so scared as well and it broke my heart that we were all going through this. The saddest thing was watching Brian through the back window as he sobbed all the way to the hospital. He had truly gotten the worst of the situation. He told me later that he thought she was going to die in his arms and it shook him to the core. Shortly after arriving at the hospital our Bishop and one of his counselors came and gave her a Priesthood blessing. It was a huge comfort for me and Brian and we appreciated it so much (the RS Pres. had told him). Next she got a cat scan and everything looked perfect. I have never felt so blessed in all my life. Of course they said to watch her for the next day or so to make sure there wasn't any other problems. Back at home she took a nap and I basically went and looked at her every 5 minutes. She was pretty much her old self and she even tried to climb on the table, but not to worry she was being watched like a hawk. She has lost all freedom after this little stunt!
What I was reminded of on this very Blessed Mother's Day:
-Brian loves his family we are his EVERYTHING!
-Happy and Healthy kids are what REALLY matter!
-I have amazing people in my life who love my family
-I am thankful for good neighbors
-My Heavenly Father loves me
-There are angels among us and they were in my home this morning.
-The Priesthood is real and I know the Lords guides the Men who hold it!
Most importantly my testimony of my Saviour was strengthen this morning and I know that he lives and loves me and was watching my baby Ruby. I know that all things good in my life come from him and that the challenges we face are to help us turn to him more. I felt his arms around me today and his comforting spirit lifted me up. I am thankful for all the prayers said on our behalf.
I am a Mother and I am Grateful!
